A few weeks into the 2015 NBA Finals we had an opportunity to paint a few Golden State Warriors / DUBS murals. Little did we know how much this would catch on. It spread like wild fire! You can see all the press below. Aside from all that it’s the Warriors and the fans that made it happen. Congratulations on becoming 2015 NBA Champions!

:: Mural at Shakespeare Books in Berkeley ::

In August we did a mural located at Shakespeare Books & Co on historic Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, CA. This was one for the books, no pun intended, and was truly a community effort. We got funding byShakespeare Books and the Telegraph Business Improvement District, enlisted the help of a few folks from People’s Park to talk to folks and be our security, had live music courtesy of DJ Bluz, painted live for a huge influx of visitors and college students, and even had someone try to steal our paint. A great time none the less. As my partner Tim said, “I believe people are influenced by their environment, and their surroundings, and we aim to make a positive impact on that old building.” We definitely did.

:: San Francisco Giants Mural ::

Shortly before becoming the 2012 World Series Champions, we, Illuminaries, were given the opportunity to bless the city of San Francisco with its own Giants mural. This piece is located on the rootfop of Walgreen’s located between 23rd and 22nd on Mission Street. Despite the rickety ladder we thoroughly enjoyed producing this piece for the city. Ya’ll deserve it.

:: 49ers Mural at Walgreens on 23rd and Mission, SF ::

What a whirlwind of a week we just had … To think that this mural was originally only meant to be used in Bailey’s “Who’s Got It Better” music video, but then spiraling into a media event is amazing! So here’s the breakdown. We contacted Precita Eyes Mural Center to ask about venues we could talk to in regards to finding the Niners mural a permanent home. Abe Bitar at the Walgreens on 23rd and Mission accepted us with open arms so we moved forward immediately. The first day of mounting the artwork at Walgreens a reporter from Mission Local came to interview us. After mounting the artwork we got a lead on someone who worked at KTVU and followed up. The next day, New Year’s Eve, Mike Mibach from KTVU interviews Tim and aired the story the same night. During this whole time Tim has been in contact with Vernon Davis’s publicist, Theodore Palmer, trying to get him to come out and sign the mural. Tim announces this during the KTVU interview. The media caught on and the rest was madness. I give it up to my partner, Tim Hon, for making the push in finding this mural a permanent home and getting in touch with the proper people. Many thanks to the SF community for the encouragement and support during the process! For murals: www.illuminaries.net

:: Jabbawockeez Splash T-Shirt Design ::

Was blessed with the opportunity to craft a t-shirt design for the world famous Jabbawockeez! The concept behind this was fluid animation – a metaphor synonymous with their style of dance. Originally, the main element was going to be the mask, but during the process we opted for their question mark logo. By having the mask as a secondary element it created a sense of mystery and intrigue which the Jabbawockeez are also known for. Shouts to Ratha of Stablished for bringing me on board this fresh project!

Here we have it … all six of the Honeydipped illustrations unveiled. Each image was crafted using Adobe Photoshop, a reference image, and a heap of imagination. I wanted to capture a mood or audience with each of these girls, and even went so far as to name them. You can view them up close and personal until late August at The Usuals or take home a print for yourself. Which one is your favorite?

Hey folks! Really glad to announce that my good friend Erik Otto and I have collaborated on a print to raise funds for the victims of the Japan Earthquake. We are not capitalizing on the tragedy, just trying to help out somehow. We found a reputable charity called International Rescue Committee where we are going to donate all of the proceeds. They are transparent with their roles and how they allocate funds. From darkness comes light so donate to shine light on the situation. Many thanks for your support!

From the time I started my career as a graphic artist this was one of the projects I genuinely looked forward to getting involved in. It was an opportunity to tap into a softer aesthetic usually not associated with my style. Yet, it also served as a platform to showcase my solution to the usually mundane and mechanical nature of wedding stationery. From logo development to crafting the army of paper craft birds to folding and stapling each invitation there was definitely a lot of time, energy, and love invested. A truly worthwhile investment nonetheless.
